چکیده

This paper presents a modeling and simulation of a superconducting maglev vehicle with a levitation and guidance assist method we have proposed. The assist system stabilizes and assists the vehicle operation so that the vehicle does not need to depend on the mechanical wheels as much as possible at low speeds. By controlling the LSM armature currents, the auxiliary levitation and guidance forces are provided. The results show that the assist system produces appropriate levitation and guidance forces, establishing the reference levitation height and a sufficient guidance at low speeds even against the disturbance force of lateral wind. © 2006 IMACS. Harmonic Analysis of the Output Voltage of a Third-Harmonic-Injected Inverter for LSM Drives

The superconducting magnetic levitation railway system (MAGLEV) under development in Japan uses a pulsewidth-modulation (PWM) inverter for driving a linear synchronous motor (LSM). The inverter output voltage contains non-negligible harmonics which cause harmonic resonances in the LSM system, and therefore harmonics of the output voltage have been analyzed in order to control such harmonic reso...

Design and Improvement of the Thrust Force Characteristic of a LSM for a propulsion/levitation of the 700km/h-speed tube train

In case of high-speed maglev trains, the propulsion force of their Linear Synchronous Motor (LSM) is an essential performance element since the LSM is responsible for both the propulsion and levitation of the train. A large thrust force ripple causes vibration, noise and severe levitation disturbance during the train operation. Because of these reasons, efforts must be made to reduce the thrust...

Model of the Electromagnetic Levitation Device

1. Introduction From the principal point of view, the magnetic levitation is a method which is used for suspending an object in the air, without any physical contact. There are few main types of the magnetic levitation – electromagnetic, electrodynamic, transformation, superconductive and diamagnetic. All these are usually based on the force interaction between magnetic field and gravitation fi...

Design and Control of Levitation and Guidance Systems for a Semi-High-Speed Maglev Train

Research on Maglev (Magnetic Levitation) train is currently being conducted in Korea, concerning Urban Transit (110 km/h of maximum speed), semi-high-speed (200 km/h of maximum speed), and high-speed (550 km/h of maximum speed) trains. This paper presents a research study on the levitation and guidance systems for the Korean semi-high-speed maglev train. A levitation electromagnet was designed,...

SWISSMETRO Combined Propulsion With Levitation And Guidance

Swissmetro is a MAGLEV Project between the main cities of Switzerland, designed for a speed up to 500 [km/h] in two tunnels under partial vacuum. Two propulsion variants are considered: the short stators of the linear homopolar motors are fixed with the tunnel tracks; the stator of the motors is on board of the vehicles. The levitation, the guidance and the transfer of energy are independent. T...
